Admissions Requirements
The requirements that prospective UA graduate students must meet in order to be admitted differ for Domestic and International Students.
If you are not sure whether you will be considered a Domestic or International applicant, please read both the Domestic Students and International Students pages carefully.
The minimum basic admission requirements for the Graduate College include the award of a bachelor's degree, or its equivalent, from a college or university which grants degrees recognized by The University of Arizona. Details of "Recognized Degrees" and "Comparable Degrees" are outlined below and differ for Domestic and International Students.
You are required to submit official transcripts from all previous colleges and universities attended. Please read the Transcripts Requirements page to insure your understanding of our transcript requirements.
Beyond the award of a bachelors degree, there is a minimum grade point average (GPA) expectation of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for previously completed university work. Click here to access more detailed GPA requirements.
The University of Arizona does not require the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) for admission. However, many graduate departments do require standardized Graduate Entrance Examinations such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT) for admission. Some departments may require applicants to take the GRE Subject Test in a specific discipline.
Every program at the University of Arizona has their own set of requirements, in addition to the Graduate College requirements outlined on this website. In order to find out the requirements for specific programs, please use our Program Description Guide.
