Commencement Check-In

Fall 2009 Commencement takes place on Saturday, December 19th, 2009

 

Doctoral Students

(Master's/Specialist students please see the section below)

Ceremony Time:

You should arrive at the main entrance of the Main Library between 8:30am and 9:00am on Saturday, December 19th. The procession starts from the Main Library to McKale at 9:10am so you will want to be in line and ready to walk with a little time to spare.

When you arrive at the library, look for the degree certification staff at the check-in table. That is where you will pick up your name card. You can pick up a copy of the commencement program at this time also. Program booklets for your guests will be available in McKale Center. Once you receive your name card, you will be shown where to line up in single file to await the beginning of the procession. There is no specific order of how you must line up.

All Doctoral students should be wearing their caps, gowns, and hoods for the procession to McKale. Your tassel should be on the RIGHT side. There will be degree certification staff there to help you with your hood if you need assistance.

Your family and guests should go directly to McKale get a good seat before the Center fills up. There is no limit on how many guests can attend, and no tickets are required. The ceremony usually lasts from 90 to 100 minutes.

Master's/Specialist Students

Ceremony Time:

When you arrive at the library, you should line up at the Master's/Specialist staging area which is located at the northwest corner of the Main Library. You will see signs marking the spot. You can pick up a copy of the commencement program at this time also. Program booklets for your guests will be available in McKale Center. There is no specific order of how you must line up.

All Master's/Specialist students should be wearing their caps and gowns but should be carrying their hoods for the procession to McKale. Your tassel on your cap should be on the RIGHT side.
