Mission

The mission of the Arizona Scholars Program is to promote and encourage underrepresented students to enroll and complete a graduate program at the University of Arizona (UA).

In the interest of helping departments recruit, matriculate, and retain underrepresented graduate students, the Graduate College is offering supplemental financial assistance to Hispanic, African American, Native American (including Native Pacific Islanders) and other underrepresented students (e.g., males in Nursing, women in Engineering, Asian Americans in the Humanities and Social Sciences) being recruited for UA graduate programs.

The Graduate College will provide a "one-time-only" cash supplement and/or cover in-state tuition in addition to the best standard offer your department is able to make to these students. If funds are available after recruiting incoming graduate students, the Graduate College will assist departments with providing support to continuing underrepresented students.

This offer is intended to "supplement" and not to supplant departmental funding. It is designed to make departments competitive in recruiting underrepresented students who tend to receive substantial financial offers from other universities.

In order to participate in this program authorized department personnel must login with your NetId username and password and fill out the "Online Application" form.

PLEASE NOTE: FUNDS FOR THE UPCOMING ACADEMIC YEAR ARE NOW FULLY COMMITTED. ANY ADDITIONAL APPLICANTS FROM THIS POINT FORWARD (6/10/08) WILL BE PUT ON OUR WAITING LIST.
