Welcome
Fall 2008
WORKSHOP HAS ENDED - Next workshop is Spring 2009
WELCOME
This Graduate Record Examination Workshop is free for eligible students and will consist of three components: (1) practice tests, (2) group instruction and (3) office hours with instructor, Michael Flynn from the University of California, San Diego.
Participants will be provided with the Educational Testing Service's The Official Guide to the GRE: Practicing To Take The General Test, 10th Edition free of charge and have access to Power Prep software.
(1) Practice Tests: The course will begin with an actual GRE practice test administered under simulated test conditions. Scores will be analyzed to determine areas of strength and weakness for each participant. Two additional practice tests (computer adaptive) will be taken throughout the course.
(2) Group Instruction: Test-taking strategies for the quantitative, verbal and writing sections of the GRE will be covered along with time management, stress/anxiety and other topics relating to test performance. Timed sections will be administered to assess individual strengths/weaknesses and to improve pacing.
(3) Office Hours: Office hours will allow for individual and small group instruction.
NOTE: Students are selected to participate by a review committee. The GRE Prep Workshop seats 25 students and on average 70 applications are received. Students will be notified within two weeks after the application deadline via email of your acceptance. Also, students will be notified if you were selected for the "alternate admit list".
