Welcome

University of Arizona offers the prestigious National Institute of Health Initiative for Maximizing Student Diversity Graduate Study Awards to outstanding under-represented students who are admitted to one of sixteen Ph.D. biomedical programs at the University of Arizona. 


We also have the Minority Health Disparities Summer Research Opportunities Program (MHD/SROP) offering juniors and seniors a paid research experience focusing on issues that affect minoirty communities in a disproportionate manner, weekly seminars on health disparities, and instruction on how to put together an excellent graduate school application.

Maria Teresa Velez, Ph.D. is the Director of the University of Arizona NIH/IMSD Scholars Program and Associate Dean of the Graduate College.
