MHD SROP Online Application
Summer 2010 dates: June 5 - August 11, 2010.

Thank you for your interest in the Minority Health Disparities (MHD) program.
People who meet the following requirements are eligible for this program:
- Rising juniors and seniors who come from underrepresented backgrounds, i.e., Hispanics, Native Americans, African Americans, and Pacific Islanders or low income first generation.
Enrollment during the previous year in an accredited four year university.
U.S. citizenship, Permanent Residence.
Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, and
Will have completed 75 semester units toward a bachelor's degree by the summer.
Before you begin the online application, know that the application must be completed in one sitting. The application will not be saved until you press submit at the end of the application. Additionally, you may want to
- Choose a faculty member from your school to write a letter of recommendation for you. We prefer a letter from a research mentor if you have research experience. Print out the Letter of Reference form and deliver it to your professors. Follow up with the recommender to make sure they have sent the reference letter to the below address. One letter of recommendation is required.
- Prepare a personal statement that describes any prior research experience and your area of research interest. Be as specific as possible about research projects of particular interest to you. Be sure to include what you hope to accomplish through participation in this program and your academic career goals. Your personal statement should not exceed two double spaced pages. You will be able to copy and paste the text of your personal statement into the online application.
- Submit an unofficial transcript to Minority Health Disparities Summer Research Opportunity, Graduate College Diversity Program, 1031 N. Mountain Avenue, The University of Arizona, Tucson, AZ 85721-0102.

- APPLY EARLY for priority consideration. Application review begins in early February. Our first round of offers will be extended in mid to late February. If space permits, we will continue to consider applications through the end of March.
