  • A minimum GPA of 3.3 (based on a 4.0 scale) is required for admission.
  • All applicants are required to submit a Statement of Purpose - minimum one page letter specifying your area of interest and goals.
  • Three letters of recommendation (letters must be printed in letterhead stationery).
  • The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required of all applicatns, and GRE scores should be submitted to the ABE Department only.
  • Official transcripts from ALL institutions attended. If international applicant, original and English language translation transcripts, showing courses, grades and degrees awarded.

Other Requirements for Successful Completion of the Program

QUALIFYING EXAMINATION - PhD applicants only.

The qualifying examination shall be administered during the first two weeks of the first semester in attendance as a Ph.D. student. (The examination is not administered during the summer sessions.)

a. Determine the strengths and weaknesses of the student's technical background.
b. Determine if the student requires additional preparation before pursuing a Ph.D. program.
