The MPH degree is designed to be an interdisciplinary graduate, professional degree in public health. The MPH Program provides opportunities for students to obtain broad knowledge and basic skills in the core areas of public health. Students acquire proficiency in one or more specialized areas through advanced coursework, and gain experience in applying advanced knowledge to the solution of actual health problems in community settings during internship training. The MPH Program of the UA Zuckerman College of Public Health offers a program in which students acquire a sound academic background for competent practice in the field of public health. Students are able to obtain the MPH degree through one of six concentration areas, including: Biostatistics, Environmental and Occupational Health, Epidemiology, Health Behavior and Health Promotion, Public Health Policy and Management, and Family and Child Health, which includes tracks in Maternal and Child Health and International Health.
The DrPH is an advanced, professional degree program that focuses on developing future leaders in public health practice, who will advance the public’s health through the integration and application of a broad range of knowledge and analytical skills in leadership, practice, policy analysis, research, program management and professional communication. The program is designed for students who have a previously awarded Master’s degree, preferably a Master of Public Health degree, and at least two years of public health work related experience. Additionally, applicants with a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of public health work-related experience may be considered for admission into the program.
