Financial Aid

  • The School of Plant Sciences has Teaching Assistantships and grant funds to support students in our two graduate programs. In addition, we offer a number of highly competitive Graduate Research Assistantships. Support is offered depending on the strength of each student's application. Currently, our standard stipend is $19,951 for Ph.D. candidates and $17,098 for MS candidates, with additional support to cover tuition, fees, and health insurance. For many Ph.D. students, two years of support may be offered; one year of support is typically provided for MS students. This model allows students to enter our program without committing beforehand to any particular faculty member. Students receiving departmental financial support are expected to rotate through two or more laboratories during their first year to facilitate the matching of interests between students and prospective faculty mentors. After the first or second year (depending upon the program), additional support can often be obtained through research assistantships, teaching assistantships or fellowships.
