Announce the Graduate Writing Institute

 
The Graduate Writing Institute offers a communal learning environment that supports the
development of graduate-level writing skills through a customized curriculum designed
and taught by the professional instructors of the Writing Skills Improvement Program.
Open to all U of A graduate students at no cost, the Institute provides students with
resources to develop individual writing skills and work successfully towards completing
graduate studies. The Writing Institute is for students working on research and
conference papers, Master’s theses, or Doctoral dissertations.
 
Large Group Workshops:
Meet with entire group (50 students, 6 faculty members) for workshops and presentations
that address critical writing skills such as Writing Techniques, Literature Review, and
Academic Vitae.
 
Small Group Collaboration:
Meet with small group (8-12 members) specially chosen based on academic fields to
workshop writing projects. Learn techniques and provide positive, constructive feedback
for fellow writers.
 
Individual Tutoring:
Meet with a professional tutor to strengthen individual writing skills: 6 one hour sessions
during the 3 weeks.
 
Optional Workshops:
Participate in supplementary workshops to improve writing skills (i.e. Grammar,
Punctuation, Library Research, and Grant Writing).

(also available MWF afternoons).
