Guillermo Ponce Campos, Research Associate with the UA Soil, Water, & Environmental Science, led a study on how plants adapt to drought

The results of the research study by Guillermo Ponce Campos, and a UA-affiliated ARS researchers group which included, Susan Moran and an Australian team led by Alfredo Hueter from the University of Technology, Sydney, were recently published in the journal Nature.

They determined  that water demand by many plant communities can fluctuate in response to water availability, indicating a capacity for resilience even when changing climate patterns produce periodic droughts or floods.
