Science Foundation Fellowship
Science Foundation Arizona Graduate Research Fellowships
$60,000 Fellowships ($30,000 per year for 2 years) plus Tuition
The University of Arizona Graduate College is pleased to announce the availability of Science Foundation Arizona Graduate Research Fellowships. These prestigious awards support outstanding new graduate students (domestic and international) in science, engineering and technology fields. The funding comes from the recently established Science Foundation Arizona to advance the competitive research capacity of the State of Arizona in three strategic areas: Sustainability, Information and Communications Technology, and Biosciences.
SFAz Graduate Research Fellowships (GRF) are targeted for recruiting top Ph.D. students; truly exceptional M.S. Engineering students; and dual degree M.D./Ph.D. medical students.
Each year of award comprises a $25,000 personal stipend plus a $5,000 supplemental allowance to the SFAz Fellow to advance the Fellow's research and/or to offset relocation expenses. Full tuition and registration fees are covered (currently equivalent to $16,350 for 12 or more units per year for an out-of-state student). Second year support depends upon evidence of outstanding performance and progress toward the degree.
Candidates must be nominated by the University of Arizona degree-granting academic unit selected to participate in the UA campus-wide Science Foundation Arizona Program. The funds are designated to support new admits for the 2008-09 academic year only.
To inquire whether your admitting program is participating, please contact the designated graduate coordinator within the individual academic unit.
