Fellows Application

We prefer that you submit your application online. If that is not possible, you may request permission to submit the application as a Word document which may be emailed, faxed or mailed to the UA Graduate College/Fellows Program. Please respond completely to all questions in the application. Specific examples or anecdotes are encouraged on essay questions responses. Insert the curser in the shaded form field to enter your responses. You may adjust font size and spacing to suit your needs. We recommend that you use an 11 or 12 pt. Times Roman font.

Resume

Please submit a one or two-page resume or brief cv. If accepted as a Fellow, this resume will be distributed to potential internship agencies. Please name the word file with

[Surname]_1st name_date_cv, e.g. doe_john_1208_cv

Description of Service

Please submit as a pdf file identified with [surname__1st name_dos]. If you have not yet completed your Peace Corps service, please substitute a detailed description of your activities and submit the final DOS upon completion of service. The DOS should be signed by your supervisor. If you need to obtain a copy of your DOS, you can contact US Peace Corps Volunteer and PSC Financial Services at 800-424-8580 x 1770 or 202-692-1770.

How to Submit Fellows Application

Electronic documents (word, rtf or pdf files) may be submitted via email, fax or mail.

E-mail applications to: rpcf@grad.arizona.edu with your name/application in the subject line. Alternatively, you may fax to 520-621-4101 or mail to Georgia Ehlers, Graduate College, Administration Bldg. 322D, PO 210066, Tucson, AZ 85721-0066.

If you do not receive an acknowledgment of receipt of your application within one week, please email rpcf@grad.arizona.edu to confirm your submission.

The online application site will show a thank you message when you have successfully submitted your application. Items marked with an * are required and the form will not submit until completed in the form requested.

Relation to the Academic Application

Please submit your UA academic application, including required documents (transcripts, standardized scores, portfolios, letters of reference, statements etc.) using the Graduate College online application (or SOPHAS) and following departmental procedures. Fellows applicants may mark Peace Corps Fellows as a potential source of support on the academic application. The Peace Corps Fellows office does not receive academic applications, transcripts or references.

What’s Next?

Applications will be reviewed by the Peace Corps Fellows program beginning in January, and we begin making awards in February pending admission to The University of Arizona. Typically, academic recommendations are made before April 15 for applications submitted by February 1. The process of filling the class continues for some months. Slots may be filled as late as June.

Applications may be submitted at any time. We prefer to receive applications by the end of December or early January for fall starts. Priority is given to applications submitted prior to March 1 for fall starts. Applications received after March 1 will be wait listed. We may accept several Fellows in the spring semester depending on December graduations, but most Fellows begin in the fall.

You are encouraged to file the FAFSA online as early as possible beginning Jan. 1. If interested in housing support, be sure to visit Residence Life to apply for Residential Assistant or Hall Director positions at.  Application deadlines are generally in late January.

Visiting Tucson

We encourage you to visit the University of Arizona. If you are planning a visit or have other questions, please contact rpcf@grad.arizona.edu. If you would like to communicate with any UA Peace Corps Fellows, let us know, and we will forward your contact information to them. We invite you to visit during Peace Corps Week the last week of February, to meet all our Fellows or whenever your schedule permits. Please contact us to make an appointment and for suggestions for your visit. If you reside in Tucson, you are welcome to join us at Peace Corps Fellows service projects. Inexpensive lodging in Tucson is available at the Roadrunner Hostel & Inn.
