Program Description

What is the Accelerated Master’s Program?

The Graduate College offers exceptional undergraduate Marketing students the opportunity to earn both a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in as few as 5 years. Student will start taking graduate level courses during their senior year at Eller and those graduate courses will count for both their undergraduate degree and their graduate degree at the cost of undergraduate tuition!

The primary goal of the program is to provide students with a comprehensive foundation of the principles and practices of marketing and its role in developing and implementing successful business and marketing strategies.  The marketing-focused curriculum, offered by renowned and world-class Marketing Department Faculty, provides students with both conceptual frameworks as well as analytical tools to formulate and identify business and marketing problems and opportunities, understand customers and incorporate customer insights to make informed marketing decisions, and design effective marketing plans to improve business performance. 

Students graduating from the program are expected to have deep conceptual and analytical skills valued in a wide variety of industry sectors, both nationally and internationally. 
Recent graduates have obtained placements in companies such as Accenture, Amazon, Disney, Hexagon Mining, Magna International, NBCUniversal, Raytheon, Sunquest, Uhaul, Target and Wal-Mart.  The program also kindled an interest in some outstanding students to pursue doctoral education and an academic career in Marketing.  Thus some recent graduates have also joined the PhD Program in Marketing at The University of Arizona and at the University of Texas at Dallas.

The Marketing Department in the Eller College of Management strives to generate influential contributions to marketing knowledge and communicate these to students in a way that regenerates this curiosity in a next generation of responsible citizens and marketing professionals. Admissions Information

Admissions Requirements
  • Completion of a minimum of 75 undergraduate credit hours will be required at the time of application 
  • Courses taken for audit may not be included in the total number of units counted for eligibility or admission.
    • A minimum of 90 undergraduate credit hours will be required at the time of entry into the AMP.
      • If the student’s GPA falls below 3.3 at the time they have completed 90 units, the student will not be admitted into the program.
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a minimum of 12 units of undergraduate UA. 
    • Completion of at least 12 earned undergraduate credits in their major at The University of Arizona’s main campus. Units still graded Incomplete, units graded Pass/Fail or units taken as audit will not count toward the requirement of the 12 undergraduate units. 
    • Completion or near completion of general education requirements. 

Through the Graduate Admissions Application you will have the ability to upload various requirements for consideration by the admission committee. Along with the online application and application fee, the following supplemental materials must be submitted:

This is an Accelerated Master's Program (AMP).

The Graduate College offers exceptional undergraduate students in selected majors the opportunity to earn both a bachelor's degree and master's degree in as few as 5 years. The Accelerated Master's Program is for the top undergraduates in participating majors who plan to continue in a graduate program in the same, or closely related, UA discipline.

Programs will select from among a qualified pool, based on the following criteria. Individual programs may have more stringent or additional requirements:

  • Completion of a minimum of 75 undergraduate credit hours will be required at the time of application; a minimum of 90 undergraduate credit hours will be required at the time of entry into the AMP. If the student's GPA falls below 3.30 at the time s/he has completed 90 units, the student will not be admitted into the program. Courses taken for audit may not be included in the total number of units counted for eligibility or admission.
  • Completion of at least 12 earned units of undergraduate course work in the major at the UA.
  • Units still graded Incomplete, units graded Pass/Fail or units taken as audit will not count toward the requirement of the 12 undergraduate units in the major.
  • Completion or near completion of general education requirements.
  • Submission of a graduate application and payment of a graduate application fee.
  • Demonstration of the maturity necessary for success in an accelerated, highly competitive program.
  • Expectation to complete the undergraduate degree within four years. The undergraduate degree requirements must be completed before the student is eligible to have the Master's degree awarded.
  • Interested students should verify departmental requirements as they may have additional or more stringent requirements than the Graduate College minimum requirements.
