Nursing (DNP) - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner 
Program Description

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is similar to other practice doctorates such as the MD, JD, and PharmD.  Graduates of the DNP program are prepared as advanced practice nurses.  Applicants may enter the program as a post-BSN student or a post-master’s (in nursing) student. Part-time and full-time options are available.  The DNP program is offered online.  Graduates of the Psychiatric Mental Health specialty are eligible for Nurse Practitioner certification.

Admissions Information

Admissions Requirements

All applicants to the DNP program should review the application information on the College of Nursing's website.  Admission requirements include personal statements, copies of RN licensure and other documents.  

Standardized Tests

We do not require any standardized tests for admission to the DNP Program.

Financial Aid

Students in the Doctor of Nursing Practice Program are eligible for university and college funding.  All students are encouraged to file an updated FAFSA form each year. The College of Nursing awards internal scholarships on a rolling basis each spring to currently admitted students.  

Admissions Deadlines

Students are admitted to the DNP program once per year for an August start.  Applications are due December 1 of each year.  Applicants are encouraged to review the information on the College of Nursing website prior to submitting an application.

International Conditional Admission
International applicants will not be considered for conditional admission by this program.

Degree Requirements

The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree prepares graduates to be advanced care providers in roles as nurse practitioners.  Applicants are encouraged to review the program requirements and information found in the handbooks, and on the college's website.
