GRE Prep Workshop

  • For many students, taking the GRE is an intimidating proposition. We want to reduce your anxiety and increase your level of preparation. To that end, we have arranged for you to obtain (free) structured professional guidance, form small study groups, and take the GRE before the summer program ends. The UROC GRE workshop is approximately three weeks from start to finish. Taking the exam before the end of the summer is the logical conclusion of this process. This allows you to maximize the investment of your time and begin your graduate school application process by putting this test behind you.

UROC Research Symposium

  • The Research Symposium is led by UROC staff. Business casual attire is required. Agenda highlights: keynote speaker, faculty and graduate student panel discussion, graduate admission and funding workshops, workshop on letters of recommendation.

Don Asher Seminar - Getting Into Graduate School

  • This full-day graduate school preparation workshop is led by nationally-renowned graduate admission expert Donald Asher (http://donaldasher.com/). Topics covered in this workshop include: how to write effective admission essays; personal statements; sources of funding for graduate studies; overview of the graduate admission process including key deadlines; strategies for negotiating fellowship and assistantship offers.

Presentation Skills workshop with Kathryn Kellner

  • This workshop is provided by local expert Kathryn Kellner to prepare students to speak to large and small audiences in a personally authentic style, incorporating techniques of voice and body. These presentation skills will be reinforced at the PowerPoint Presentations and the all-UROC Poster Session and Closing Ceremony.
