March 29 - International Crisis & Disaster Management Training with Lezlie Moriniere, Expressor Art Cafe, 9 a.m. - noon

March 31 - AmeriCorps year 1 grant concludes

April 4 - 9 - 11 a.m. Sabino Rm. Student Union - CPR Training required for all AmeriCorps Members who do not have current certification. Available to all Fellows.

April 25 - 4-6 pm - Location TBA - End of Year Ceremonies, Planning for 2008-09

June 1-3 - National Conference on Volunteering & Service, Atlanta, GA

Jun 2 - Fellows, Members & Supervisor Evaluations Due

July 23-25 - Flagstaff - Governor's Conference on Volunteerism for all Arizona AmeriCorps Members. Save the date!

Aug. 18 - Incoming First Year Fellows should arrive in Tucson by this date.

Aug. 19 - Incoming Fellows Orientation - Student Union 8:45 - Noon, Student Memorial Union Sabino Room

Aug. 19 - Potluck at Georgia's - Meet returning Fellows - 6-10 p.m.

Aug. 20 - Internship Fair - Student Union, Tucson & Catalina Rooms - 4-6 p.m.
Agency Setup at 3:30 pm.

Aug. 20 - GO (Graduate Orientation) from 8-12. You must register on the GPSC website to attend GO.

Aug. 22 - Most Departmental orientations

Aug. 25 - First day of classes 

Aug. 30 or Sept. 6 (TBA) - Fall Service Project

Training Opportunities - Skill Builders

AmeriCorps Members are required to update CPR, First Aid and Disaster Shelter Management Training. All PC Fellows are encouraged to update lapsed certifications, and to attend sessions. Local trainings are available in Tucson from a variety of sources, including:

CPR - Continuous Chest Compression CPR for adult sudden cardiac arrest - UA Emergency Medicine - Training is offered on the first Wednesday of each month 5:30 -6:30 pm in DuVal Auditorium. Required for AmeriCorps members, but available to all Fellows.

Campus Rec Health and Safety Classes are offered for CPR/Professional Rescuer, Review & Standard First Aid classes the first weekend of each month. AmeriCorps Members need to update CPR.

American Red Cross - Southern Arizona Chapter Trainings -
CPR - Child & Infant & Review; See Blended online courses with reduced class time.

UA Risk Management and Safety offers a variety of free classes including HOV Training which is offered 2-3 times/month. Sign up online. Training is required to drive a UA High Occupancy Vehicle.
