Eligibility

U.S. Peace Corps/USA Requirements:

Your service must have been satisfactorily completed, meaning:

  • "Completion of Service" with two full years of service
  • Two full years of service minus 90 days if returned home on emergency leave
  • "Early Close of Service" or "Interrupted Service" granted due to circumstances beyond your control
  • "Medical Separation" after one full year of service including training

The University of Arizona Peace Corps Fellows' Basic Requirements:

  • Admission to a degree seeking program and regular academic progress
  • Service in an internship with a minimum of 450 hours of service per 12-month period. *
  • Participation in Fellows activities, presentations, and evaluation processes - approximately 50 hours per year

AmeriCorps Bringing Service Home Requirements

AmeriCorps "Bringing Service Home" and UA Wildcat Corps are programs affiliated with Peace Corps Fellows at the UA.  Many Peace Corps Fellows conduct their internship with support from AmeriCorps and work study.

AmeriCorps members must meet eligibility requirements including:
  • Committment to service and building community
  • U.S. citizen, national or permanent resident
  • Some college, high school degree or GED
  • Background check if working with youth or at-risk populations
  • UA Peace Corps Fellow, grad student, junior or senior preferred
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid, and disaster shelter reception training
  • Participation in other training activities

 

* Half-time AmeriCorps Members commit to 900 service hours within a 12-month period, 20% of which may be for professional development and training. Quarter-time AmeriCorps members commit to 450 hours of service within a 12-month period.
