In addition, 6 semester hours in biological/physical sciences, 3 hours in mathematics, 6 hours in behavioral and/or social sciences, and 6 hours of English are required. The master's program with an emphasis in the clinical sciences requires a minimum of 36 graduate hours of study. The students' academic preparation and clinical training is broad based. The program fulfills ASHA certification requirements. Clinical teaching is provided in University clinics and in a variety of externship sites such as schools, specialty programs, and medical and rehabilitation centers.
Applicants to the doctoral program must have a baccalaureate degree prior to enrolling. The typical applicant has completed a master's degree but one is not required. Successful applicants will have completed coursework in physical or life sciences and mathematics, as well as, in their major area of study.
