Welcome to the University of Arizona (UA) Peace Corps Fellows website! We have a wonderful group of students here bringing Peace Corps back home, and we hope that you will consider joining us.

We promote the scholarship of engagement and community outreach and service through a professional internship and career development. The University of Arizona Peace Corps Fellows/USA program is one of the largest with 57 enrolled and since 2000, when the program began, we have admitted 156 UA Peace Corps Fellows who have provided approximately 140,000 hours of service in southern Arizona. Peace Corps experience proves beneficial in your academic work and the Fellows' internship. Our Fellows find that the internship experience also enhances their academic and career development.

Fellows at the UA generally seek a master’s degree in an applied professional program. We accept a small number of Ph.D. students, generally from current Fellows who decide to go on. We are open to expanding to other units as long as there is interest and support from the academic unit, and the mission of the Fellows program can be met. Programs which admit Fellows are identified under Academics on our webpage. If you are interested in a program not listed, contact us.

We suggest you evaluate us beginning with the UA and departmental web sites. Look carefully at the requirements, curriculum, class offerings and faculty research interests. The Graduate Admissions Coordinator in each department can direct you to faculty with nterests. similar to yours. If you like what you see at the UA, we encourage you to apply no later than the academic unit’s departmental deadline.

This site answers many of questions we have received over the years. Please feel free to e-mail or call with any others you may have (put your name and PC Fellows in the subject line). Please contact the departmental Graduate Coordinator directly for questions on the academic program. We would be happy to arrange for a current Fellow to contact you.

We do hope you will give us your consideration and that you will apply through our online application. We encourage you to apply by December before the fall you plan to start. We do accept applications through March 1 for the following fall, but we begin making offers in February. After March 1, contact us to see if we are still accepting applications.

We strongly encourage you to file the FAFSA at the beginning of January and to refile it each year of graduate school. You may also apply for a position with Residence Life as a hall director or resident assistant, or for assistantships which meet the Peace Corps Fellow guidelines to benefit an underserved community.

We encourage you to visit, and can offer suggestions for planning your trip. We welcome the opportunity to meet with you.

Warm regards,

Georgia Ehlers
