School & Community Presentations - Feb. 23-24

Peace Corps Fellows and Tucson RPCV's made 55 presentations in colleges, schools, classrooms, and community settings, reaching approximately 1400 students, teachers and community members. Thanks to Jessico Risco for coordinating these presentations, and to all our presenters!

Proclamations

Peace Corps Week was officially recognized by Mayor George Walkup at City Council proceedings on Tuesday, Feb. 26. Governor Janet Napolitano further recognized Peace Corps Week in Arizona. Ben McDonald, PC Week 2007 Student Director, read the proclamation at Peace Corps Fair. We appreciate the assistantance of Representative Phil Lopes, RPCV Columbia, in organizing this recognition.

Peace Corps Fair - Feb. 27 - UA Student Union North Ballroom, 4-7 pm

Eighty-nine Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, AmeriCorps Members and volunteers assembled to share their Peace Corps Experiences with 300 registered participants. Every world area was represented. Participants included UA students (including journalism students who interviewed RPCV's), Girl Scouts, prospective Peace Corps volunteers, families and friends. Peace Corps Week Recruitment Events

Four Peace Corps recruitment events were held during the week for interested audiences.

Service Project - UA Cats in the Community Day - Sat. March 1

Twenty Peace Corps Fellows and friends participated in a complete makeover of Primavera Foundation facilities in Tucson. Primavera serves the diverse homeless population of Tucson.
