Small Grants Program in Research Integrity
Do you have ideas for teaching graduate students about the responsible conduct of research? Are you interested in building resources on research integrity? Have you ever thought about designing a lesson addressing the ethical side of genetic research, vaccine development, or archaeological research?
The Office for the Responsible Conduct for Research and the Graduate College announce the availability of funds through a Small Grants Program in Research Integrity. We are seeking proposals that would increase the visibility and understanding of research integrity issues throughout the university. In particular, we are seeking creative ideas for building curricular materials, course development, and electronic or web-based tools and resources for use by graduate students. While the focus is on graduate students, proposals that would also involve undergraduates, postdoctoral trainees or faculty members may also be supported. Support for this program is provided via a grant from the Council of Graduate Schools and the Office of Research Integrity at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Program Purpose Areas
Grant funds may be used for the following:
- Curriculum development on Responsible Conduct of Research to be presented as full course offerings, or as individual modules that can be incorporated into existing science and methods courses.
- Educational outreach activities that will result in a measurable increase of knowledge related to the principles and practices of research integrity. Proposed outreach events should target cross-sectional populations invested in research, and may include speaker fees for presenters from outside of the University.
- Development of resource materials regarding responsible conduct of research and research integrity. Materials can include written, electronic, or web-based media designed in compliance with the University’s accessibility requirements. Please visit http://www.arizona.edu/uaweb/accessible/index.php for more detailed explanations of accessible resources.
