Last October, The Graduate College issued a Call for Nominations of awards to acknowledge faculty and professionals who excel in their teaching and mentoring of graduate and professional students. Two such awards are given annually. Each winner will receive a check for $2500.00, a medallion and plaque at a reception today. Tenure-track, tenured and non-tenure eligible faculty who can demonstrate a long-standing commitment to graduate education are eligible. Candidates may be nominated by students, staff, faculty members, department heads, graduate program directors or deans.
Please join in honoring the life of our friend, colleague, champion of diversity, and beloved family member, Dr. Maria Teresa Velez, Associate Dean of the Graduate College, who passed away suddenly on April 13, 2016 after a short but intense battle with cancer.

It is with a heavy heart that I’m writing to tell you that Dr. Maria Teresa Velez, Associate Dean of the Graduate College, passed away suddenly early yesterday morning, after a short but intense battle with cancer.
Congratulations to all of this year's finalists and award winners.This year, the top three presenters and the Honorable Mention will represent the UA at the statewide Arizona 3-Minute Grad Slam, a presentation competition featuring the top presenters from the UA, Northern Arizona University, and Arizona State University.

Gear Up for Graduate School Spring 2016 Workshops!
Learn the basics about graduate school and the graduate application process in this three-part workshop series.
Workshops are 60 minutes and held once a month, on the same day of the week and at the same time.
Option 1: Thursdays 5:00pm - 6:00pm (February 11, March 3, April 7)
Option 2: Fridays 12:00pm (noon) - 1:00pm (February 19, March 4, April 8)

Announcing the "From ABD to PHD Spring Workshop Series", co-sponsored by the Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC) and the Graduate Center.
Purpose: Provide writing support for ABD students; discuss shared concerns about the dissertation process; and introduce strategies to facilitate writing. All participants should come prepared to write and work collaboratively with students from across diverse disciplines.

I’m sad to announce that Dr. Dianne Horgan has decided to retire from her incredibly successful career as Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences and Associate Dean in the Graduate College. We’re relieved to announce, however, that she has agreed, after some arm-twisting, to stay on as a part time consultant to the Graduate College in matters of curricular affairs and data management.
The Graduate College is pleased to announce that six graduate students will be receiving the prestigious Marshall Foundation Dissertation-Fellowship for final-phase dissertation support. In addition to a stipend from the Louise F. Marshall Foundation, each student will receive a tuition scholarship for two semesters from the UA Graduate College.
