Summer Fellowship Application Support Program

The Summer 2019 Fellowship Application Support Program is currently closed and will reopen Spring 2020. The program offers deadlines and writing support to assist UA students in completing fellowship applications over the summer.

Applications: The application deadline has passed but we try to help students at any point in the summer. If you are interested in this program, please email Shelley Hawthorne Smith.

The program has two tracks for students at various stages of academic work. Students can participate from on or off campus.

  • Track One: for students near the beginning of their graduate work
  • Track Two: for students who are applying for dissertation or postdoctoral support

Summer 2019 Application Support Program Track One

Track One assists students applying for the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships Program (NSF GRFP), the Fulbright Student Program, the Ford Predoctoral Fellowship Program, and UK Post-Grad Scholarships. If you are applying to another fellowship and you would like to participate, please contact Shelley Hawthorne Smith. The three components of the program include the following:

1. Deadlines to submit your drafts for comments

  • Submission deadlines are May 31, June 28, and July 31
  • Please follow our directions for submission when you submit essays for review

2. Feedback on your drafts and opportunities to meet with Graduate Editors to discuss your draft

3. Online information sessions about writing for fellowships

Summer 2019 Application Support Program Track Two

Track Two assists students applying for dissertation research/write-up fellowships (e.g. Fulbright-Hays, IAF, NSF DDIGs, Fulbright Student Awards, AAUW, DAAD, etc.) or postdoctoral fellowships. The three components of the program include the following:

1. Deadlines to submit your drafts for comments

  • Submission deadlines are May 31, June 28, and July 31
  • Please follow our directions for submission when you submit essays for review

2. Feedback on your drafts and one on one advising
