- Pre-admissions advising.
Pre-Admissions advising should include not only admissions criteria but also outcome expectations for incoming students. From academic and non-academic employment options to anticipated Time-To-Degree, pre-advising should include a variety of information to inform and prepare prospective graduate students.
- First year advising until a Major Professor is identified.
Incoming students need an advisor immediately. The DGS ensures that while students are finding research mentors, they have appropriate advising. During this first year advising should assist the student in making connections that align with specific professors.
